how much beauty product to use

WYLDE MOON’s beauty guru, Ateh Jewel, shares her handbag hero beauty essentials.

When it comes to having beauty SOS products in my bag, like a Girl Guide, I love to be prepared for anything from emergency spot treatment to calming and grounding products for when it all gets a bit much. Here are some of the things I love to reach for to make me feel happy, healed and together, super-fast! Here are some of my favourite SOS beauty product recommendations…

Best handbag product for dry skin:

Vita Coco Coconut Oil, £2.99

I use this little pot of goodness head-to-toe. Coconut oil is so nourishing, packed full of vitamin E. I used to slather my twin daughters in this when they were babies. This is the A team of beauty products, as it’s great for dry lips, cuticles, thirsty coils and curls, can be used as a body oil and it’s food-grade, so you can even cook with it.

Best soothing oil for sensitive skin:

Botanics Pure Essential Oil Lavender, £6

Lavender oil is nature’s gift. It has incredible anti-inflammatory properties when applied to the skin and calms frazzled nerves. I love to put this on pulse points and take some deep breaths to help ground myself. It can also be used to help heal burns and scarring. Lavender is one of my go-to essential oils, as it’s so hard working and healing.

Best product for an emergency spot-treatment:

Patchology Breakout Box 3-In-1 Acne Treatment Kit, £18

This Patchology Breakout Box is genius as it’s packed with 24 pimple shrinking dots, 24 white head absorbing dots and black head eliminating nose strips. I love the clear dots as they’re packed full of pore unclogging salicyclic acid, witch hazel and volcanic ash to help heal and soothe blemishes fast when they just seem to erupt from nowhere.

Best facial spray for dehydrated skin:

Evian Facial Spray, £4.99

This Evian spray gives a fine mist of refreshing mineral water, which can be applied over the face, body and hair to help keep you cool and refreshed. It’s great to have in your handbag or keep on your desk for when you feel you need to have a burst of hydration. Especially good as we head into summer and air conditioning can make your skin feel dehydrated.

Best product to soothe hot flushes:

Pause Cooling Mist, £35

I love this cooling mist, which is meant to be applied to the back of the neck and pulse points to help take the heat and discomfort out of menopausal hot flushes. However, this is a great mist to have in your bag for your commute, hot and bothered kids and when you need a moment to just keep cool and feel renewed. The minty menthol and holy basil leaf extract gives you a burst of freshness anywhere, anytime.

The absolute best hand sanitiser:

Neals Yard Remedies Organic Defence Hand Spray, £4.95

This is the queen of hand sanitisers. As well as disinfecting your hands, it smells incredible and makes any stuffy environment feel calm and smell delicious. It always makes me feel happy with essential oils of neroli, lemongrass and witch hazel which feel like a fragrance.

The best calming product:

Tisserand Restore Balance Pulse Point Roller Ball, £8

Harness the power of essential oils and aromatherapy with this roller ball, which can be put on pulse points on your wrists and temples if you feel a little overwhelmed or anxious. Rose, geranium and clary has been used for hundreds of years to help gain clarity and peace.

Best product to fix chipped nails:

Call it a bug bear but having a chipped nail and not being able to do anything about it drives me nuts, so I always carry a TLC kit on me to make sure a chipped nail doesn’t escalate.

Nails Inc Mani Marker Nail Art Pen Trio, £10

These fun nail art pens are super fun to get creative with, but also a clever way to cover any chips you might have with a heart, daisy or star design!

The Gel Bottle 220/240 File, £1.68

I love the ergonomic shape of this nail file and how soft it is while able to shape and smooth out any little tears or chips in your nails for a professional finish.

The best tweezers for your handbag:

Tweezerman Mini Slant Tweezer Pink, £14

As well as being pink, (my spiritual colour), these mini tweezers are great for any last minute grooming of brows, or even chin hairs, when on the go. Made of stainless steel, this brand is loved by celebs like Elizabeth Hurley and celebrity MUAs including Aarti P and Pauline Briscoe.
