Hold that thought, because tomorrow morning at 8.15am, Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio. The last time she did that in this sign was October 2018. Before that, 2010. Before that, 2002. Venus returns to roughly the same patch of sky every eight years, so this isn’t a random wobble. It’s a reunion.
You know when a song you haven’t heard in years comes on in a shop and you’re suddenly somewhere else entirely? Like that, only it’s about love, money and what you actually want.
Why Scorpio makes it personal
Venus loves things easy, sweet and harmonious. Scorpio is intense, private and all or nothing. Astrologers say that makes Venus uncomfortable here, a bit like being at a party where everyone is saying what they really mean. She has to be honest to get what she wants.
So, between now and 25 October, expect the questions to get quieter and sharper. Who do I actually trust? What am I holding on to? What have I been calling “fine” that isn’t?
Old chapters tend to knock during a Venus retrograde. Exes, old friends, old debts, old versions of you. Sometimes it’s a message you finally know how to answer. Sometimes it’s a gym membership you forgot you were paying for.

In the early hours, Venus meets the Sun in what’s called a cazimi, from an Arabic word meaning “in the heart”. Astrologers see it as a rebirth, a clean slate right in the middle of the retrograde. If you’ve been paying attention, this is where things click. A few hours later Mercury turns retrograde too, but that’s a story for another day.
The plot twist: Sunday 25 October
On the very day the clocks go back, Venus slips out of Scorpio and into Libra. Libra is her own sign, where she’s at ease: balance, fairness, partnership, what you’re worth. Scorpio asks what you’re hiding. Libra asks what you’re settling for.
She turns direct just after midnight, in the early hours of Saturday 14 November, and her shadow lingers until 15 December. So, if something old resurfaces, you have until winter to decide what to do with it.
What to do with it
Look back, don’t leap. This is a time for revisiting, rereading and reconsidering, not for starting big new things. Hold off on the dramatic haircut and the luxury purchase you’ll regret by December. If someone from 2018 turns up, you’re allowed to reply slowly. Or not at all.
And notice what you smell. Venus rules scent, and scent is the quickest route back to a moment. Light a candle, see where it takes you, and ask yourself why. That’s often the most honest message of the whole six weeks.
