WYLDE Moonboard August 2022

Share the moonboard…

Ice cold refreshments enjoyed al fresco are the epitome of summer. Anyone want to join me for a Sangria, Rose or a Fruity Mocktail? Cheers x

Nothing says summer bliss than fresh fruits bursting with flavor and locally caught seafood.

GILLIAN MCALLISTER

I literally could not put this book down! There’s nothing like finding a book that consumes you faster than you can consume it!

BULLET TRAIN

Brad is back! And with a host of other well-renowned actors. Have you seen Bullet Train yet? I’ve heard wonderful things and can’t wait!

J LO

I really enjoyed watching J Lo’s new Netflix documentary. I have such respect for her work ethic and the way she has paved the way for so many.

WOMEN’S SPORT THROUGH THE AGES

I could not believe my eyes when I discovered this post from @evening.standard detailing the true history of women’s football. Stretching back to the 1800’s, there was a thriving women’s league until it was banned in 1921 by the English Football Association! Never to be repeated on our watch!

MOON GAZING

There is nothing lovlier than moon-gazing on a clear summers evening, watching night after night as Mother Moon moves through her glorious phases.

LOOK UP

The skies above are always full of wonder and I’m not just talking about the Moon…cloud formations watch over us like angels.

SUMMER DREAMING

PERIDOT

Ah lovely Peridot…August’s birthstone and keeper of the spirit of summer. This stone is joyful and friendly, offering protection against difficulty and negativity to keep you feeling calm and safe. She is also filled with good luck vibes to draw abundance to you, both spiritually and materially.

POPPY

Since soldiers wrote home about fields of poppies at Flanders during the First World War, poppies have become synonymous with remembrance. So, when I read that the poppy is the flower of August, the timing felt odd as November seems more appropriate, when we all stop and remember those who have given their life so we can live as we do.

However as with everything, this beautiful, delicate flower also has other meanings and symbolism. In ancient Rome poppies represented strength and honour, and when offered as a gift they were symbolic of love at first sight. They come in not only red but white and yellow too. Poppy seeds are rich in Calcium and Iron and have been used medicinally for centuries. Perhaps the most powerful of our flowering plants for good and bad is the opium poppy with its significant pain killing properties, still used in modern medicine. However this benefit continues to be tainted by a multi-billion pound drug trafficking network.

OUR COASTGUARD

With the summer-long bout of glorious weather, we owe a debt of gratitude to our Coastguard Service for working tirelessly to ensure the safety of everyone out enjoying the delights of our Great British Beaches. Thank you!

HEARTS ON THE SEA BED

ALLIUMS

Alliums are one of my favourite flowers that bloom for weeks on end! And I’m not alone – the bees love these big pompom blooms too!

LITTLE GIRLS WITH BIG DREAMS…

…as they witnessed our @lionesses become European Champions. Ladies, you’re all dream-makers inspiring a generation to believe they can do anything and be anyone. Thank you.

WOMENS ENGLAND SPORTING TEAMS It’s not only football where the women’s teams are storming it! At the Commonwealth Games, our Women’s Hockey Team have just won gold, our Netball Team entered as defending Commonwealth champions and the Women’s Gymnastics Team also took gold! So much female triumph to be proud of!

VITAL VOICES

Vital Voices: 100 Women Using Their Power to Empower is an unprecedented book and companion art exhibition celebrating 100 global women leaders who are redefining power. I’m so lucky to live in a world where women’s voices are being heard and honoured for their ambitions, sacrifice and bravery.

If ever you find a little restaurant off the beaten track, take a minute to notice the history adorning the walls. One of my favourite things is to imagine what life was like there in the days before the tourism. I love this chap on his boat…perhaps he’s after a long night fishing.
